One night, while they were sleeping, a group of black revolutionaries came to the house and started a fire in the house. The revolutionaries tried to kill Winnie but Nelson kept her alive and saved her from the fire. He then asked everyone to leave the house so he could save their lives.

He said that if he left, they would die. While everyone else was leaving, there was a group of one very young girl who stood up and stared at Nelson with such admiration for him for saving her life that she did not want to leave him alone.
